Jeffrey Knopping

Managing Director

Jeff Knopping is a managing director with Benefit Street Partners and is based in our New York office. Prior to joining BSP in 2016, Mr. Knopping founded Cowen Finance and Cowen Special Situations for Cowen Group. Previously, he was head of origination and capital markets at Kohlberg Capital and was a managing director at William Blair in private finance and special situations advisory. Mr. Knopping spent 13 years at GE Capital, where he led all capital markets activities for GE commercial finance and served as the chief investment officer of GE’s global sponsor finance practice. Prior to GE Capital, he worked in loan syndications at Citigroup. Mr. Knopping received a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from American University.
